I just finished playing a map with an ally. The ally took the capital due to my covering their ass with strong air units and behind the lines special forces raid. After they captured the capital I couldn't save my units?! I lost all of my American S-level units which I had worked hard building up. I see this as a huge flaw in the game. Comments?

I'd say that is a major flaw as if I remember correctly if you are playing a game with 2 players and they are allies then both players get to save units no matter which captures the capital. Should be the same with computer players.
If this turns out to be the case then I wonder what the justification for it is.

I play with allies regularly and I have never had a problem with this.
That is really bizarre because I know that I haven't lost any units except the rare times that I play the same production country as my ally. Which would force us to choose between which units to save, but we still got the option.
As for when the AI wins in an ally situation, I don't recall ever missing out on the save unit feature.
