If i know that there's going to be some navy i will buy some F-117's rather than go with the actual anti navy jet (Orion)..
Mainly because the Nighthawks are multi functional. They can get out to the enemy vessel quickly, blast the hades out of them, and possibly pick up a stray tank on the way back if the opportunity presents itself.
It does suck that they require a babysitter when they fly out and back - lacking any type of defensive weapons can make them an expensive pin cushion if the enemy has any units in the air.
So remember kids: always fly with a partner - preferably an interceptor.

Yeah, I tend to use naval surface assets as anti ship platforms. The Orions are much more suited for anti sub duty.

My favorite anti-shipping aircraft is the F-35C. It can be configured to carry two Harpoon missiles, and often times I will post up 3 F-35s on an island with a suplly tanker, they can slip out just above the waves, unleash their missiles and can as a combined units take out around two vessels before having to slip back, hopefully before any interceptors can get to them. The computer usually "learns" from this experience and if they have lost too many ships and units to my raider cell, they either throw their weight against them (giving me the go ahead to commence operations on the opposite side of the battle) or they ignore the territory the raider cell is protecting and seek a new route (giving me the ability to secure this territory).

A fine example that the AI isn't ALL that bad. Too bad it won't learn to build a bigger navy.
