Description
The first PSP edition in the modern military sim game. In the PSP entry, you play as the leader of a group called Wild Kids and command your troops in battle on a variety of battle fields. Gameplay in Daisenryaku includes grid-based strategy, 3D cut-ins for attack sequences and separate production/movement phases during battle. During the game's planning phase, you're able to manufacture up to five units at one time. You can move your units in and out of battle freely, although in order to storm a city, you have to make use of ground troops. The game features over 300 units pulled from actual military bodies throughout the world.

FAQ uploaded to gamefaqs but it's taking its sweet time getting there. I'm also working on a dictionary of DP terms similar to the one at the Genki site but expanded to include pretty much every menu/item/label text you'll see in the game. I haven't translated any of the scenario story however.

I'm curious to see what the battle map looks like. Anybody see any screenshots of that? Any further info on this game would be appreciated. Also, if anyone would like to share comparisons with DSVII, that would be cool.

This may influence my decision to purchase a PSP.

FAQ is posted at gamefaqs, the official site has TONS of screenshots. Let me try to iterate some of the differences between this and DSVII

(ps: I am jvgfanatic)

Daisenryaku Portable features as compared to Dai Senryaku VII:

- Resupply trucks have infinite fuel for resupply (tho limited for movement)
- One weapon per unit, no varying loadouts (no "Packages")
- Unit persistence is in Scenario/Story mode
- 99 turn limit
- 50 units/army on map limit (99/50 were also DS7's limits)
- Battle cut-scenes are 3D "movies", you can disable them
- Facilities have a garrison limit now so more than one unit can be "in"
- Resupply and Repair in Facilities only happens if a unit is garrisoned
- There are now "missile" units with unlimited range
- I don't think there are any Move+Fire artillery but I could be wrong
- Heavy Infantry can "demolish" facilities (not sure if there is a repair)
- The "Story" mode is the meat of the game here (in DSVII free play was)
- DP supports AdHoc mode
- No Map Editor (so far, maybe unlockable? I doubt it).
- Has a Satellite command (view thru Fog for 1 turn)
- No "Low Ammo" indicator on the playing map
however the "Unit List" and the unit details make the number apparent
- Strategies are more classic Daisenryaku than VII was...in other words
sometimes the strategy is not as direct as the goal states. In VII in
Mission mode you could often just "plow ahead" and succeed. In Portable
Scenario Mode is a lot trickier.

Three Modes

Scenario Mode: Unit persistence, story, branching paths, you play role of independent leader whose units are mixed and matched from the game's nationalities. This is the mode that Dai Senryaku VII lacked.

Mission Mode: Puzzle like stages (50 in total) that present you with a pre-set up battlefield and you must meet the victory conditions within a time limit. These remind me of the old Nectaris battles. These Missions are also very similar to the Mission Mode of Dai Senryaku VII.

Free Mode: Kind of like Free Play in Dai Senryaku VII. Pick a map, set options, go to it. Only five maps to start with though.

There are a couple of handfuls of other diffs and I'll edit this message as I remember them.

Looks sweet. If we get a US version, I will seriously consider getting a PSP (at this point there just aren't enough games I'm interested in for me to justify it, but based on the amount of time I've played DSVII on the XBox, it would totally be worth it to get a PSP if I can play DSVII on it).

It is a gimme game if there ever was one. The strategies for the first freakin' scenario were the sorts of strategies you need to beat the Free maps in DS7. In other words: pretty open ended and the indirect approach with a twist is the fast and best way. Of course the indirect approach with a twist took over half a dozen re-plays of that first Scenario. Well then, on to number 2.

On a much better note I've completed the first 10 missions and have unlocked the next five. Whee.

would be nice if they happened to import it that they would include infrastructure mode (online), becuase to be honest it will most likely never be played in ad-hoc (considering people u know that have psp's and the game) and with online it would bring more people together. Wouldnt doubt if they went with psp gamespy servers so even if the game dies for online (hypothetically speaking) then they would lose no money and wont have to shut them down for gamespy servers never shut down with the compatable game.
