also,I've read that there are missions that take over 4 hours,is it possible to save during these long missions?

Zero XBL Support. 
As far as being able to save mid-mission, I know you can for sure in Free Play Mode and I don't know why you wouldn't be able to in Single Player Missions as well.

There is multiplayer on a single console, yes. Totally customizable up to 4 players/AI combos, any combination of 1 to 4 controllers.
