First off, I haven't had cable or an antenna hooked up to my television for over 10 years. It's more a monitor than a television. That being said I do rent and buy dvds and sometimes the content of those DVDs is television.
I'm a huge lover or some classic Television: The Prisoner, The Singing Detective, Hogan's Heroes, M.A.S.H., Fraggle Rock and others. My taste in television is really, really narrow though and it's surprising when something current comes along that I find appealing.
The short-lived, sci-fi television series Firefly is one such series. My wife really loves Joss Whedon and I can understand why. The guy has a real knack for dialog and lovable ensemble casts. Firefly is one of Joss' finest works and is available for a reasonable price on DVD.
Anyway, I only mention this because I'm going to see the movie Serenity today. It's essentially the continuing adventures of the Firefly crew (same cast, AFAIK) only this time on the big screen. I don't want to add to the hype (much) but I have to say I'm really looking forward to this movie.
Cheers.

Funny you mention that movie, I just heard something on the radio this morning driving to work about it. I was thinking to myself, what is this movie all about...let me know how it is.

Went to a midnight showing last night.
This movie kicked some serious tail. It's probably the best movie I've seen all year at the very least. I wanted to see the movie before I found out it was a tv show. However, my girlfriend is a big Firefly fan and has the DVD boxed set and thus I watched a few episodes before the movie.
Also, for those familiar with Harry Potter, Doom and Chronicles of Narnia, there are previews for those movies.
