What does this exactly mean?
If it has gone gold, would more people be on xbox live playing the game.

When a title just comes out (actually it is annouced before it is released to the public) and is said to "have gone gold" it is referring to a "gold master" or final retail version of the game. Meaning that all testing is complete and the title has passed certification. You will see this term often on gamedaily.com etc, when referring to a title that has completed the testing process. I used to think it was a sales figure term as well before I got in the industry. Good question.
