Check your big name book stores when you can. I've found tons of books on military hardware on the bargain racks of many a Borders or Barnes & Noble. Modern and WWII. To list them all would take up way too much space. I think all of them are must haves! The good thing is that because they were 'bargain books' you can pop in and grab 4-5 without breaking your back. |
Unless you get 4 or 5 really big and heavy tomes

Yeah, the Angelucci one I have on aircraft could choke an elephant. Big sonofagun. I found my Tanks book at a Waldenbooks, so you can definitely find some good ones at the stores, but I have found that the large chain stores rarely carry a great deal of "crunchy" books; most of them are simply narrative histories or overviews with limited data.

I've tend to find the chains around my town hit and miss. There used to be one that had a good chunk of the Jane's books, and some that barely have anything that resemble a military section.
Although, I recently moved and so I haven't had the chance to check out the stores in my new area yet.

You're absolutely right about the big stores. You can go to same store in different locations and find a completely different selection in the "bargain" area. If you're looking for in-depth analysis of particular weapons your best bet is to hit the internet. Going to a specific publishers website usually locates a treasure trove of books you'll never see in the stores.

My girlfriend says that Amazon.com is my friend, which I think I will have to agree there as I've found a few books that are hard to locate and often much cheaper than I would find anywhere else.
